Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday said a revolution was only possible with the support of the masses and new entrants in politics did not have support of the people.
Addressing a public gathering in Sargodha after inaugurating and laying the foundation stones of a number of development projects, Gilani said some parties came into power through crutches, but were washed away because they did not have roots in the masses.
He said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government was committed to providing basic necessities of life to the people at their doorsteps and utilising all available resources for the improvement of the masses, who were the real strength of the democratic process.
“We are the committed persons and will remain with you today and in the future also,” the prime minister said. He said he came to Sargodha to fulfil the promise of Benazir Bhutto, as she announced that she would “be here as prime minister, therefore, I am here as her representative”. The prime minister said other political parties were misguiding the masses, adding that new political parties did not have any concrete programme or manifesto.
