The alleged unfair and biased umpiring of the linesmen marred the Lahore Board Intercollegiate Football Championship 3rd-4th position match which was being played Izmir Society, Raiwind Road. According to eye witnesses, one of the players of Railway Road College was shown red card during the semi-final match against Government College University Lahore. But the players was allowed to play in the classification match against KIPS College. Akram (Chest # 16) of Railway Road College was given the marching orders on Wednesday and all the GCU team and officials of the GCU and KIPS college were witness to the incident.
When the same player wearing different number shirt (chest # 5) was allowed to play in the match against KIPS College, protest was lodged but the referee and linesmen took side of the Railway Road College. KIPS lodged written protest but a spokesperson of the college said that the whole organizing body, referee & line man were biased and were supporting Railways Road College. Last year, Railway Road was disqualified for playing two outsiders. And then the protest was filed by Govt College Lahore which they won. One of the witnesses Mohammad Jamil, a father of GCU student who was visiting the venue daily to see matches, verified that the Railway Road College player named Akram was issued red card but he was again playing with chest # 5 shirt. However, it has been learnt that the Lahore Board has called a meeting on Friday to listen to the protest but no organizing committee official was available for further comment.
