The runaway general

It seems that Musharraf’s return has been ‘delayed’ even though he had claimed to return very soon. It is very easy for some of our leaders to toot their horns while safely ensconced in foreign shores (London seems to be a popular choice) but it is much harder to come back and face public opinion. He was rdight that he is a military man and has seen much in his life but now that Pakistan is a democracy, military men (past and present) should be answerable to civilians and the public.

Now that he is no longer in uniform, he has every right to partake in politics as a civilian but the fact that he has taken off his second skin (as he called his uniform) doesn’t mean he is absolved of what he did while in uniform. If he wants to write his own political melody, he should be ready to face the public music.
