Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that in the current scenario, general elections before time are not expected but possibility of mid-term election could not be ruled out.
Talking to media persons after condoling the death of Pir Sahab Pagara in Pir Jo Goth, Chaudhry Shujaat said that whenever next general elections were held, PML-Q would proceed through seat adjustment with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
He said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNAs who avoided to join Prime Minister Gilani on the occasion of his appearance in the Supreme Court, attended the dinner hosted by the president.
The PML-Q president said that his party has no fear of increasing PTI’s popularity among the masses as PML-Q is a stable party and masses would vote in its favour. He said it was a good sign that new people were joining the politics. He denied that his party was holding secret talks with Imran Khan.
Chaudhry Shujaat said that Mian Nawaz Sharif has never been sincere in uniting Muslim League factions.
To a question about President Zardari’s Swiss accounts, Chaudhry Shujaat said he will not comment on the matter as it was sub judice. He said the government gives due consideration to his viewpoint. He said the current situation will improve very soon and there is no cause of worry as such.
To another question, he said the government should be allowed to complete its tenure. About former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s return, Chaudhry Shujaat said Musharraf was not coming back. “However, we hope that he will not be arrested on his return,” he said.
