India has set February 1-10 as the proposed date and duration of visit of Pakistan’s judicial commission to India that would interview key people linked to the investigations into the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
According to the sources in the Ministry of Interior, India had finally responded to Pakistan’s request for setting a date for the visit of Pakistani judicial commission and conveyed it to Pakistan through diplomatic channels.
India has also sought the identity of the members and experts making up the judicial commission, the sources further said.
They said it was on December 26 that Pakistan had last asked India to fix a date for the proposed visit during a meeting with Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan Sharat Sabarwal.
Both sides had discussed various issues, including the Mumbai terror attacks.
The Pakistani commission will record the statements of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate RV Sawant Waghule and Investigating Officer Ramesh Mahale, who have recorded the confessional statement of Ajmal Kasab, the lone survivor allegedly involved in the Mumbai attacks.
It also wanted to record statements of the two doctors who carried out the postmortem on the terrorists killed during the attack.
