Fake gold sellers and policemen arrested

The police on Friday claimed to have busted two gangs. One of the gangs was involved in selling fake gold, while the other was looting money from people while pretending to be policemen. According to a police spokesman, a gang of women was busted in the Bara Kahu Police Station precincts, which used to sell fake gold ornaments to people. He said that the arrests of the women were made upon the complaint of Zahid Mehmud, one of the victims of the scam.
The arrested women were identified as Shazia Noreen and Sumera Sadiq. During the preliminary investigation, they confessed to selling fake gold to several persons and minting money from them.
The police have also recovered fake gold from them and efforts were underway to arrest their other accomplices. Meanwhile, two persons, Hasnain Haider and Jameel, were arrested in the Industrial Area Police Station precincts. The arrested were involved in minting money from the people after portraying themselves as policemen.
The fake cops used to stop people, introduce themselves as policemen and take money from them during physical search or under other pretexts. The accused have confessed to the crimes, including taking money from a person, Sarfaraz Khan in I-8 Markaz, a few days ago.
