Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Aawan on Wednesday said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are one nation living in two different countries.
Talking to media at a dinner hosted by Saudi Ambassador Abdul Aziz Al-Ghadair for the newly appointed ambassadors to Pakistan, the minister said, “We share the same socio-cultural values and the relation is not government to government, rather its people to people contacts that are growing in the hearts of people of both countries.”
Appreciating the efforts of the Saudi ambassador, the Firdous said that his personal role is very positive to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Moreover, Firdous appreciated the way Saudi Arabia extended brotherly hand in the floods of 2010.
Talking on the occasion, the Saudi ambassador told that Saudi Arabia will help in constructing more than 250 houses in the flood hit areas of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan and it would continue its support for further rehabilitation of the flood affected people.
Later, the ambassador said that he is a member of Pakistani nation and “We all have to pray and take initiative for the betterment of Pakistan.”
