The Sindh Assembly unanimously adopted on Wednesday a resolution supporting democracy and the prevailing leadership of PPP-led government.
A similar resolution was approved by the National Assembly on Monday, reposing confidence in President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in the wake of a six-point proposal for possible verdict on NRO implementation case by the Supreme Court.
The apex court has issued contempt notice to the PM for not implementing court orders to reopen NRO cases against President Zardari and other politicians waived in Musharraf era. Gilani was directed to appear personally before the bench on Jan 19.
The Wednesday’s resolution was tabled by PPP MPA Ghulam Mujaddid as the house met with Speaker Nisar Khohro in chair.
“Lawmakers of the Sindh Assembly fully support democratic set up in the country and repose confidence in leadership of PPP co-chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilnai,” the resolution stated.
All the ruling allies of the PPP government have assured it of their support in the Parliament and provincial assemblies.
I am from Punjab and wish to thank our Sindhi brothers for a positive signal. I hope big brother also shows some grace.
Imran is absolutely right–besides miltary has no relsih to get involved in the political mess created by the present PPP leadership in pursuit of highly selfish and immoral objectives….e.g. pesident should not be proceeded against for amassing over 60 million US$ , Hussain huqqani is fine and that he real fault lies with the judges of the SC! With such outlandish motivations, it is not incoceivable that the Army may have to do its constitutiona duty to go after such thugs…
