Senator Raza Rabbani has demanded government take strong notice about general Musharraf’s letter to American authorities.
Addressing the Senate over a point-of -order on Wednesday, he said that associate to former president Musharraf had penned a request to American senators and congressmen to ensure that Musharraf would not be arrested on his return to Pakistan.
The letter also requests that Pakistani authorities should also be restricted from adding the name of Musharraf to ECL (exit control list), while there are reports that American Senate and Congress had also been requested by Musharraf to issue statements in his favor.
Musharraf has been known to have said that in case of his arrest, US secretary of state and American ambassador to Pakistan would both issue statements in his favor, after meeting him within 72 hours.
Stressing that government would never accept American interference, he demanded interior minister issue his clear statement regarding the issue, and also deliberate the official stance.
