In the wake of any undemocratic step taken by any party on Thursday at the eve of hearing of contempt of court case against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Supreme Court, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to stand firm with the incumbent democratic government and had finalised a strategy to secure derailment.
The prime minister announced to appear before the Supreme Court while speaking at National Assembly saying that he was ready to face the consequences.
The PML-N has also devised a contingency plan to foil any bid by the ruling coalition or Pakistan People’s Party activists to bring judiciary under pressure to get desired judgment in the said case.
Without naming the personalities and giving exact number of people, Interior Minister Rehman Malik while talking to media, Tuesday, announced that prime minister would be accompanied by some people.
It is expected that the prime minister will be taken to the court in a convoy of PPP workers. Moreover, besides chanting slogans, a lot of hue and cry from PPP workers and activists at the Constitution Avenue in front of the Supreme Court is expected on the occasion just to influence proceedings of the court.
Well-placed sources told Online that PML-N, the second largest party in the Parliament, held an hours long meeting to deliberate on upcoming situation arising in the backlash of possible apprehension of the PM under contempt of court case.
The high level meeting was chaired by Nawaz Sharif in Lahore, which decided to take precautionary measures to handle the situation, however, PML-N does not seem much inclined to bring activists on the Constitution Avenue to avert any possible clash with PPP workers.
On the other side, when asked about the possible method for expressing solidarity with the Supreme Court, Senator Mushahidullah Khan while responding to Online said it would not be a wise way to express solidarity with judiciary by chanting pro Supreme Court slogans at a time when PPP workers would be chanting slogans in favour of their leaders.
“However, we will monitor the situation and can take decisions immediately to tackle any situation” he added hoping that PM would surely follow a policy of reconciliation rather than confronting with the court.
“PM is merely required to seek apology for not writing letter to Swiss authorities with an commitment to comply with orders of the court in this connection” he observed adding, “It is the lone way to sooth the heated situation.”
“PML-N wishes perseverance of rule of law and maintenance of law and order and respect and regard among the institutions by all and sundry” he added.

  1. When they abused Justice Doger on the streets then it was obvious that there are no more moralities left in this “contempt of court” law. The only thing which present SC has is some stupid arrogance & dictatorial style of judges. Kurd is right they can’t earn respect with their threatening contempt of court calls. They will see an adverse affect on these decisions. PPP will regain its popularity & the judges will listen soon the old sweet tuned music which was played against Justice Doger!

  2. Left to him he will commercialise judicial ethics; reduce them to being decided on the streets instead of the court rooms.
