The parliament is the mother of all institutions and we should respect its resolution, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri said on Tuesday. She was speaking at a roundtable discussion on the “Political Future of Pakistan and International Future”, organised by the Centre for Peace Security and Development, Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education, at a hotel. “There is so many damages inflicted by dictators in the country and they have never been highlighted like they should be, but the democratic government is facing the burnt for the last four years,” she said. “Unfortunately, the nation was cursed with the worst dictators in the world and the international community should talk with people for strengthening the country’s democratic system,” she added. “We believe in a system that allows participation from all segments of the society and all political and religious parties should come forward and play their due role in order to strengthen the country’s democratic system.” Provincial minister Faisal Subzwari, Dr Huma Baqai and global think-tank Carnegie Endowment for International Peace’s vice president George Perkovich also spoke on the occasion.
