NADRA suspends CNIC registration in Sindh

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has stopped its registration operations all over Sindh, including 17 centres in Karachi until February 5, and dedicated all its staff to update voters’ lists following the apex court’s orders, according to a report on Tuesday. NADRA-Sindh Director General Zahid Hussain said the leaves of all staff members had been cancelled and they had been ordered to focus entirely on updating the voters’ record. However, during the suspension period, 24 NADRA centres in Karachi and mobile teams in Sindh would provide information and registration facilities for computerised national identity cards (CNICs) to the people until 1:00pm daily. Until February 5, NADRA centres would issue CNICs only to those customers who had applied ahead of the suspension period.
