PM’s emotional speech

Prime Minister Gilani’s speech in the national assembly the other day was emotional and moving. There cannot be two opinions about what he said in his speech about democracy and the sacrifices made by the party. It is also true that he has been in jail and faced anti-terrorism cases. It is also on record that the PPP has always been fighting dictators irrespective of the consequences. It is also correct that the government has been elected for five years and credit must be given in restoring the constitution to its original shape. So far so good.

But, the questions arise when their performance in the past four years comes to focus. It is very difficult to count any plus point as for as governance is concerned. The nation is without power, gas, water, jobs, security. The institutions of the country have virtually collapsed. The nation stands more divided than it was during the dictator’s rule. There is rampant corruption everywhere in every field. Law enforcement agencies are deployed only to protect the legislators at the cost of common man.

The country has come under heavy debt over the years. The fleet of ministers have done no good job except enjoying their perks and privileges. It is also true that the one who made the NRO is roaming free but what about the beneficiaries?

How about recent scandals like sugar price manipulation by mill owners, cement pricing and petrol price manipulation by oil companies? Pakistan has been turned into a free country, especially in the sense that everyone is free to loot and rob it. Such negative contributions must be answered.
