Liquor can be exported if allowed: Amin Fahim

Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim turned down the reports on Tuesday that Pakistan was going to export liquor to India.
While responding to queries in ‘Question Hour’ in the Upper House of the Parliament, the minister said that Pakistan was not importing liquor from India, however, liquor could be exported to India if allowed.
He observed in black and white that the Government of Pakistan and Ministry of Commerce were in the process of normalisation trade relations with India, which would culminate in the grant of Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India.
However, it may be clarified that, so far, India has not been accorded this status. As of today, the import of 1,958 items from India is allowed, as per the positive List of the Import Policy Order 2010-11.
“To protect interests of domestic industry, the Ministry of Commerce has planned sequence to the process of the trade normalisation with India.
