The Sindh Assembly session on Monday also adjourned on a condolence note shortly after it was called to order by the chair.
This was the second consecutive sitting that was put to adjournment on an obituary note, this time due to the demise of Pakistan People’s Party lawmaker, MPA Mohsin Shah Bukhari, who died on January 13. The provincial legislators offered fateha for Bukhari, who hailed from Tando Muhammad Khan-cum-Hyderabad.Born in April 1951, Bukhari was a member of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. He remained a member of the Sindh Assembly in 1988, 1990, 1993 and 1997 and also served as the provincial food minister. “This is to inform with extreme grief that Mohsin Shah Bukhari, a sitting member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, has expired,” read an obituary note issued by Sindh Assembly Secretary Hadi Bux Buriro.
Besides recitation of the holy Quran and Naat, the orders of the day included a one-hour question and answer session on the Relief Department, a privilege motion submitted by Muttahida Qaumi Movement lawmaker Zareen Majeed, an adjournment motion moved by MPA Imran Zafar Leghari, debate on the Government Bill No 28 and the Sindh Service Tribunals (Amendment) Bill and presentation of the respective standing committees’ reports on irrigation and power and the Board of Revenue.
The Government Bill No 22 – the Sindh Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Dewan University Bill, 2011 – due to be considered on January 13sitting, was removed from the orders of the day. The House would meet again on Tuesday (today) at 10am.
