The Supreme Court of Pakistan has sought report from security agencies regarding government’s claims to have improved the law and order situation in Balochistan, a private television channel reported.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the case on Monday.
The court ordered authorities of key security agencies – Intelligence Bureau (IB), CID, and other law enforcement agencies – to submit till Jan 20 a report of last three months regarding law and order situation in Balochistan.
The court ordered following Balochistan Advocate General’s claims in the court during the course of hearing that law and order situation had been improved in Quetta.
In reply, the CJP questioned his remarks and asked him how can the government prove this claim.
“This is not only the issue of Quetta, but the matter belongs to entire Balochistan province. The court will have to take notice like that of target killings in Karachi,” he added.
