The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday dismissed the petition filed against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari to restrain both the high-ups from removing the Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and Inter Services Intelligence Director-General Lt-Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha.
A divisional bench of the IHC comprising of Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan and Justice Azim Khan Afridi heard the petition filed by Maulvi Iqbal Haider in which he requested the court to pass an appropriate order against the president and prime minister as both had failed to perform their constitutional duties by disobeying the orders of the Supreme Court and the judicial commission probing the memogate controversy. The petitioner also requested the court to restrain the prime minister from rescinding his executive order on the judges’ reinstatement.
