The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced to support the resolution tabled by ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan in the National Assembly. The decision was taken in a meeting of the MQM Coordination Committee in London and Karachi on Sunday. The decision was announced by MQM Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar during a briefing on Sunday at the Governor’s House. “The MQM is announcing that it will completely support the resolution of Asfandyar Wali in the National Assembly on Monday.” Farooq said the decision was taken in an MQM-PPP meeting held to devise a strategy about Monday’s NA session. Interior Minister Rehman Malik said after the meeting that he was in constant contact with MQM leaders. “Whenever democracy faces any danger, Altaf Hussain comes forward to support it openly. He has always come forward to support the PPP government. The alliance between the PPP and the MQM will continue in the future and will pull democracy out of all crises,” he added. In the meeting earlier, MQM and PPP leaders reviewed the current situation in the country. A separate meeting was held between Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad and Interior Minister Rehman Malik later in which the two discussed law and order and other issues. Sources said the MQM pressed for its demands about the Sindh Local Government Ordinance and other issues in the meeting. PPP Sindh Secretary Taj Haider told Pakistan Today that there was no PPP Sindh leader present in the meeting as the issues taken up were federal, not provincial.
Right decision by MQM.
