Scattered rain, snowfall over hills likely

A westerly wave affecting central and upper parts of the country is likely to cause scattered rain with snowfall over the hills across the country during next 24 hours, said a Pakistan Meteorological Department report on Saturday. The weather system is likely to persist for two to three days and cause scattered rain with snowfall over the hills in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, DG Khan divisions on Sunday. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, scattered rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, D.I.Khan divisions and Quetta, Zhob, Kallat, Sibbi divisions of Balochistan during next 24 hours. Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of Sindh, however, isolated light rain may occur in Sukkur division during next 24 hours. Scattered rain with snowfall over the hills is also expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and adjoining areas during next 24 hours. Under the influence of the prevailing weather system, southern Punjab received first rain of the winter season after prolonged dry weather conditions. However, cold winds have entered northern Balochistan, which are likely to cause scattered rain and snowfall over hills during next 24 hours.
