Prices of vegetables and fruits continue to rise

The prices of several vegetables and fruits witnessed significant increase at the city’s Sunday bazaars, as compared to the prices from last Sunday. The price of onion, ladyfinger, bell pepper, bitter gourd and cabbage recorded a sharp increase. According to the Sunday bazaar’s price list, the price of onion increased from Rs 40 per kilogramme to Rs 46, recording and increase of Rs 6 per kg. The price of ladyfinger recorded an increase of Rs 30 per kg. Last week, ladyfinger was sold at Rs 100 per kg, while this week, it was sold at Rs 130 per kg. Moreover, the price of bell pepper increased by Rs 50 per kg, being sold at Rs 130 per kg this week, while it was sold at Rs 80 per kg last week.
The prices of bitter gourd and cucumber witnessed an increase of Rs 10 per kg, respectively. The bitter gourd was sold at Rs 90 per kg, while cucumber was sold at Rs 50 per kg. However, the prices of other vegetables remained stable, including ginger, garlic, cabbage, cauliflower and potato, which were sold at Rs 76, 76, 36, 40 and 18 per kg, respectively. Meanwhile, the prices of gourd, green chili and pumpkin recorded a slight decrease since last week. Gourd was sold at Rs 40, while the last week’s price was Rs 50 per kg and green chili was sold at Rs 76 with a decrease of Rs 4 per kg. The price of pumpkin also witnessed a decrease of Rs 4 per kg from the last Sunday.
According to the price list, the price of chicken remained stable and it was sold at Rs 144 per kg.
Among the fruits, the prices of golden apple and orange witnessed an increase of Rs 20 per kg and Rs 4 per dozen, respectively. The golden apple was sold at Rs 140 per kg, while the orange was sold at Rs 86 per dozen. The price of tomatoes remained stable and they were sold at Rs 50 per kg.
