PDMA delegation visits Rescue 1122 Service Academy

Balochistan Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Tahir Muneer Minhas along with senior officials visited Emergency Service Academy, Rescue 1122.
Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer briefed the delegates about the Emergency Services Reforms which have been carried out in Pakistan as a result of which the first professionally trained Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) was established in Punjab, said a press release issued here on Saturday.
The delegates were informed that the Service was started as a Pilot Project from Lahore in Oct. 2004 and gradually evolved into a comprehensive emergency preparedness, response and prevention system established under the Punjab Emergency Service Act, 2006 which includes emergency ambulance, rescue, fire services and disaster emergency response teams.
Based on the successful evaluation results of this model service in Lahore, the government expanded the service to all other districts of the province. The delegates witnessed the practical professional skills of the rescuers and also reviewed the ongoing training at Emergency Services Academy in different fields of Emergency Management which includes Medical First Responder course, Fire Fighting, Urban Search and Rescue, Rescue from height etc. The delegates were impressed by the service and the standard of training imparted to rescuers at the academy.
