Arfa Karim Randhawa, the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional from 2004 to 2008, passed away in the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Lahore, on Saturday night. She was in a state of comma for the last 26 days and was on ventilator. Yesterday only, doctors had reported that Arfa had shown some signs of life while Microsoft founder Bill Gates had advised that she be moved to a hospital in Dubai. According to her father, her funeral will be held at Cavalry Grounds at 10am on Sunday (today) and she will be buried in her native village. Earlier, Arfa had suffered from cardiac arrest and epileptic seizure on December 22, 2011, that had led to a ‘global brain injury’, which refers to damage to the entire brain due to lack of oxygen. Arfa, now 16, was living the life of a normal teenager and was doing her A-Levels at a local school in Lahore, where she was the head girl. AWARDS: Arfa was bestowed with several awards, including Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal in Science and Technology, Salaam Pakistan Youth Award, President’s Award for Pride of Performance, and one for learning how to fly a plane at 10.

I am very much grieved on the demise of Arfa. She was a God-gifted unique child and a pride for the people of Pakistan. May Allah rest her soul in eternal peace and give patience to her bereaved parents and other family members Ameen.
