Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that if the government was truly democratic, it would have held elections by now.
During an address in Quetta, Imran Khan said that if the current government had came into power through the people and not the NRO, then it would have held elections by now. Quoting the Supreme Court’s earlier statement about Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani was a “dishonest person”, the PTI chief said Gilani is “shameless”. “If Gilani had some shame, then he would have held elections. There is a lack of shame,” Imran Khan said.
Imran added that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should resign from the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly seats if it thinks that the government is destroying the country.
Imran Khan said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PML-N were not “ideological parties” but the majority of their members were “opportunists”. “I predict that they will not resign from the Punjab Assembly, even if they resign from the National Assembly,” he said.
Separately, addressing a public meeting at Kahuta, Imran Khan said the incumbent government could not resolve any issue because it itself was a problem for the country. He said the PTI’s tsunami will wash away all plunderers from the country.
Criticising PML-N’s role as opposition, he said that “every other day PML-N calls a drama All Parties Conference and if it really want to oust the government it should resign from the National Assembly.
Earlier, former Tehsil nazim Tariq Murtaza and 40 other former nazims and naib nazims announced they will join PTI.
