The city witnessed a chilly breeze and a few drops of rain on Saturday, while the met office forecasted rain with thunder for the early morning hours of Sunday.
Chilly breezes hit the capital early Saturday morning and continued throughout the day. The met office representatives said continental air prevailing over most parts of the country and the shallow westerly wave, that will affect the northern areas of the country, were likely to persist for the next two to three days.
According to the Lahore Meteorology Office, the city’s skies remained overcast all day with 6 km/hour north-eastern winds recorded after dusk. The wind chill temperature was recorded at 9 Celsius. The weather experts claimed that the wind temperature would drop further in the coming days.
“Cooler winds are speculated to hit the city in the coming few days. Temperatures will drop at the start of the next week,” said a meteorologist. According to the weatherman a new spell of cold winds were speculated to hit the city after Monday while a comparatively better volume of rain was expected with them.
The met office confirmed that it would rain on Sunday. “A few drops of rain are expected late on Saturday evening but will gain momentum in the wee hours of Sunday,” said a met official. The lowest temperature recorded in the city was 2.5 Celsius while the maximum temperature was 17.1 Celsius, with maximum visibility at 4 km.
The met office stated that dry and cold weather was expected in most parts of the country. Foggy conditions are also likely to prevail over the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sukkur division.
