Multi-sector strategy is needed for effective control on dengue and to prevent it from transforming into epidemic in coming season, speakers at the briefing session of Dengue Epidemic, Prevention and Control Programme who were sent for training to Thailand and Sri Lanka on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, said at Management and Professional Development Department (MPDD) on Saturday.
MPA Khawja Salman Rafique, Environment Department Secretary Salim Hotiyana, Secretary Planning & Development Ali Tahir, Asian Institute of Technology Programme Director Dr Faiz Shah, Mrs Shaista Pervaiz Malik, MPDD Secretary Rashida Malik, senior officers of different departments including health and finance, Professor Javed Akram, Prof Tariq Salahuddin, Prof Muhammad Ali, Prof Wasim Akram, nurses and other officials attended the session.
Speakers said Punjab had faced the world’s largest dengue epidemic last year and was only able to succeed due to the efforts of the CM, the nurses and the doctors. Various groups gave presentations on prevention of dengue.
