In an award ceremony that is hailed as the telling route for the Oscars, actor George Clooney won the Critics Choice Best Actor Award for his portrayal of father Matt King in Fox Star Studios comedy-drama ‘The Descendants’.
Last year, the major winners at the annual Critics Choice Movie Awards went on to take home the Oscar as well, so all eyes are now firmly on ‘The Descendants’ with the Golden Globes approaching this weekend, (5 nominations for the film).
‘The Descendants’ is directed by Alexander Payne of the Oscar winning “Sideways” and stars George Clooney as Matt King, a privileged Honolulu attorney from a landowning family who is compelled to reevaluate his marriage and life, while his wife lies comatose in a hospital bed following a boating accident.
With 5 Golden Globe nominations already as well as being chosen as the best film of 2011 by Los Angeles Film Critics Association, ‘The Descendants’ is expected to blitzkrieg all major film awards this year, starting with the approaching Oscars in February.
