College student dies as bus hits in Faisalabad

A college student died on Saturday when a bus hit him while he was waiting at a bus stop at Samandri Road, a private TV channel reported.
According to sources, a student named Tahir died on the spot when a speedy bus hit him at a bus stop while the driver managed to escape from the scene. Hundreds of angry students set the bus on fire and violently protested against the incident.
Police and rescue teams reached the spot and took control of the situation.

ALthough bus drivers in this country (actualyl all drivers) are WOEFULLY inadequately versed in rules and laws of traffic, our pedestrians are also a MAJOR cause of accidents, as they treat MAJOR THOROUGHFARES as their backyards and stroll around at a leisurely pace in the middle of the road. I don’t know about this particular incident, but road rules both by pedestrians and drivers are not followed in hte LEAST. Pedestrians would much rather risk their lives walking across a busy road than take overhead bridges (of which there are precious few) because its an effort to climb up the stairs.
