Vehicles’ parking turns into daunting task

Lack of parking spaces at the various markets of the city are creating problems for shoppers, as a large number of people visit the shopping centres daily on their vehicles.
They have to park their vehicles on the road that not only creates traffic mess but also poses security threat for the visitors. Worst traffic jams could be seen at various markets roads of the city because of vehicles parked at road sides. Motorists keep on moving in search of a parking place for their vehicles while traffic wardens try their best to ensure a smooth flow of traffic, but seen helpless because of lack of proper parking spaces.
The visitors urge the authorities to make proper parking spaces in all the main markets of the city, as lack of parking lots causes traffic jams on the city roads. They also asked the owners of the various shopping malls of the city to arrangements for the parking places near these shopping malls.
A visitor Sardar Ali said he had stopped shopping at Saddar Bazaar, Moti Bazaar, Liaqat Road and Raja Bazaar due to consistent problem of parking and congestion. “These are the oldest bazaars in the city and a large number of people come here, but the problem of parking is worsening day by day,” he said.
Asif Ali, a motorist at Commercial Market, said he was searching for parking place for the last 20 minutes, but because of lack of parking lots it is very difficult to find any place. He complained that shopkeepers park their own vehicles in front of their shops and occupy the place for full day. Authorities should ensure parking places in all the big shopping malls and separate parking lots in all the markets,” he added.
Another motorist, Nayyar said, “Visiting to Bank Road, Committee Chowk to the Centre Hospital area on the BB Road for shopping in a vehicle is a nightmare, as he had to park his vehicle either on the road, or in no parking area, which provoked traffic police.”
He said his friends were inside the shopping mall for shopping where as he was wandering here and there to find a place for parking vehicle. He said that traffic wardens are also wondering around imposing fines on motorists for wrong parking, but they not understanding the problem where to park vehicle.
A pedestrian near Faizabad said that they had to face acute problems because of the vehicles parked on the footpaths and on the road sides of the Murree Road. He asked the authorities to make parking lots in the areas where motorists used to park vehicles on roads so that to avoid the inconvenience faced by the pedestrians.
Azam Khan, a shopkeeper, said that parking of vehicles on Liaqat Road is really a big problem. He said that the problem of lack of parking lots also affects their business because of lack of parking spaces many customers avoid visiting the main markets of the city. He said that there was a dire need of proper parking spaces in all the main markets of the city.
