Up to Rs 3.01/unit hike granted to LESC, QESCO

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Friday approved up to Rs3.01 per unit hike for power tariff of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO).
The regulatory authority said that hike has been approved for the current fiscal year.
Under the decision, power tariff for lifeline consumers has been raised by Rs1/unit, other categories of domestic consumers by 50 paisas to Rs3.01/unit, commercial consumers by Rs2/unit, industrial consumers by Rs2.60/unit and agricultural consumers by Rs1.50/unit.
NEPRA said that the hike has been granted in the wake of increasing power generation cost.
LESCO and the QESCO will earn Rs130 and Rs52 billion respectively from the fresh hike.
