A delegation of PPP leaders on Thursday called on PML-Q President Shujaat Hussain to seek his guidance in resolving the current political crisis.
PPP leaders, including Khurshid Shah, Naveed Qamar, Pervaiz Ashraf and Qamar Zaman Kaira visited Shujaat’s residence to discuss the situation. A PML-Q source told Pakistan Today that Shujaat advised the PPP to avoid further confrontation with the judiciary and military and not table a resolution targeting the two institutions.
The source said both sides agreed that the resolution will not talk about any specific institution and will depict harmony between various institutions and support democracy in the country. “Ch Shujaat advised PPP leaders to control hawkish elements in the party as their aggressiveness might create serious repercussions for the entire system,” the source said.
