The police chalked out an elaborate security plan on Thursday for the Chehlum procession of Hazrar Imam Hussain (RA). Strict patrolling will be ensured through effective coordination among the personnel of the law enforcement agencies.
The procession will start from the Imambargah Asna Ashri in sector G-6/2 and will culminate at the same Imambargah after passing through various routes, said a press release.
According to the security plan, prepared under the guidance of Islamabad Inspector General of Police Bani Amin Khan and Senior Superintendent of Police Muhammad Yousuf Malik, the Islamabad police, including the Rangers, will perform patrolling and security duties on the occasion (January 14) and the route of the procession will be cordoned off completely.
The route of procession has been divided into sectors A, B and C. For each sector, an SP level officer will be responsible for the security duties. Each sector has been divided into sub-sectors for which ASP/DSP level officers will be responsible for close liaison among the security personnel. Other SPs, assisted by ASPs or DSPs, will be stationed along the procession route to supervise the security officials. Inspectors will also monitor the police pickets in the sub-sectors.
SDPOs, SHOs and other police officials will visit the procession routes to ensure effective coordination among the security personnel. A total of 1200 cops will be deployed, while eight special Quick Response Force teams, CID and Special Branch police will assist them. The Islamabad Traffic Police has also devised a special plan to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow. SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood directed ITP’s personnel to divert traffic to alternate routes.
