Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan announced on Thursday that his party will stand by the judiciary and come out on roads on January 16 if the court was attacked.
Addressing a press conference, Imran urged the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to resign from the assemblies, as this step will ultimately lead to toppling of the government.
“The system will not derail, instead it will get more strength if the present government goes,” he said.
Responding a question, Imran Khan said PTI will talk to every political party except the PML-N, as this party is the part of status quo.
“My party will not hold talks with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as the party has been defending the Pakistan People’s Party government in the name of protecting the democracy,” Khan said.
He criticized the government for defying Supreme Court orders, adding that the PTI would be standing behind the judiciary. He demanded of the government to write a letter to the Swiss government for reopening of graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardai. The PTI chief said Zardari was trying to hide his corruption.
Khan reiterated that he would not support any extra judicial step.
He also called Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani the puppet of President Zardari.
Khan said that caretaker set up should be put in place in the country, if the process for preparation of voters’ list was delayed.
