ITP issued 549,328 fine tickets worth Rs 103m last year

The Islamabad traffic police (ITP) fined around 549,328 vehicles and generated revenue more than Rs 103 million last year.
”The ITP has become model of excellence through its service-oriented policies and is further endeavouring to come up to the expectations of the general public by ensuring traffic discipline in the city,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood here on Thursday while reviewing the overall performance report of the ITP for the last year.
According to the data, 38,232 motorists were fined for using mobile phones during driving, 62,054 motorcyclists for not using helmets, 54,359 motorists for not using seat belts, 5,291 for driving vehicles without licences, 10,575 vehicles fined for having tinted glasses, 32,619 for violating signals and 23,421 vehicles for wrong parking.
Moreover, 37,518 motorists were fined for careless driving, 9,288 vehicles fined for being driven without registration plates, 28,809 for neglecting others’ rights on roads, 5,586 for driving vehicles without permit, 17,580 for route violations, 5,091 for using pressure horns, 13,790 for taking wrong turns and 14,626 for lane violations. Similarly, 6,666 transport vehicles were fined for carrying passengers in a dangerous position, 5,163 for having defective lights, 6,911 for driving on one way, 5,629 for driving on the wrong side of the road, 23,720 for obstructing traffic, 15,226 for overloading, 8,659 for speeding, 13,349 for parking at bus stops, 4,855 for parking at zebra crossing, 1,060 for emitting smoke, 14,017 for wrong turning and 67,346 for miscellaneous violations.
