The MQM parliamentary leader Dr Farooq Sattar asked the government to immediately take the parliament into confidence about the latest crisis, urging Prime Minister Gilani to present his viewpoint before the allied parties.
Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, Dr Farooq Sattar said it would be then for the parliament to decide what alternative course of action it has.
Sattar said the Supreme Court verdict was a major test of the government and it will have to take decisions after serious thinking. He said the issue cannot be resolved by just holding meetings with the allied parties but the opposition has also to play its role.
He said the country is in a crisis situation and to deal with it the parliament has to be taken into confidence and its opinion given serious consideration. He pointed out that the Supreme Court has raised several questions about the prime minister and the parliament is the forum which elects the prime minister.
The MQM parliamentary leader was of the opinion that parliament has an important role to play on this issue. He said during meeting convened by President Zardari on Tuesday, it was unanimously decided that the matter would be raised in the parliament.
