Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief and spiritual leader of the Hur community Pir Syed Mardan Shah II, more commonly known as Pir Sahib Pagara, passed away in London late on Tuesday night, Geo News reported. He was 83.
The veteran politician was taken to London by a special air ambulance on January 5 along with his physician and family members for treatment of infected lungs. His sons Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashdi and Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi, his wife, physician Dr Saulat, secretary Dr Karim Mehar and adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister Imtiaz Shaikh were also in London to oversee his treatment at a private hospital.
Hazrat Pir Syed Mardan Shah II was the leader of the Sunni Muslim Sufi order of Hurs in Sindh. His father, Hazrat Pir Syed Sibghatullah Shah, was hanged on March 20, 1943 by the British colonial government during his struggle against British rule. He will be buried in his native town of Pir Jo Goth, Khairpur district, Sindh, where he was born. Pir Syed Mardan Shah II was given the title of Pir Pagara in 1922 when he was only 12. Pagara was fond of horse races and he often spent his Sundays at the Karachi Race Course. He also took active part in Pakistani politics since the 1960s. When Fatima Jinnah lost elections to Ayub Khan, she declared the Muslim League “Functional” and made Pir Pagaro the head. In politics, he was known for his predictions for governments and his supporters believe his predictions to be correct. He was first arrested in 1930 for his struggle against British rule and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah represented him in court. The news of his death spread like wildfire throughout Sindh as his followers and party workers began to mourn his demise. His body will be flown to Karachi today (Wednesday) as the Sindh CM announced a three-day mourning in the province.

Please don't say this because you will also be tasting death one day. “Everything that breathes has to taste death”. This is the universal principle and as Muslims we never celebrate any death. This is true for all other religions as well.

No one and I mean no one with an iota of decency should say what has been said by a fellow reader.

  1. Inna Lillha Hay wa Inna Alayhay Jajayoon.

May Alha Subhan o tala does Pir Sahib's Maghfarat give him highest darjaat in Jannah.
    Ameen

  2. Inna Lillah Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajeoon!
Pakistan has lost a great pleasing personality and a great fatherly figured son of Pakistan. May God bless his soul! My heart felt condolences with the bereaved family of Pir Saien Pagara. May Allah give a lot of patience to all his family and party colleagues in this moment, and help them to take care of family and other people now in this moment and in future, Ameen

  3. He was 83 years old which makes his date of birth to be around 1928, yet he was named as Pir Pagara in 1922 about 6 years prior to his birth. To top it all, he was arrested in 1930 when he was 2 years old for opposing the British rule? How can one oppose the British rule at infancy? Did he have divine powers?

  4. Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayhe Ra’jeoun..

He was not bad for Nation, and for the dead, it does not suit to say bad words; care for those who are alive to robb the country.

  6. May Allah bless his soul. He always used his political clout to support dictators. Hope that with his demise, this chapter is closed for ever.

  7. (on…..Pir sahib Paggaro’s passing away)
    Last sunset… 1101-2012

    Mornings come and mornings go.
    Ceaseless winds timeless blow.
As kismet rolls its enduring gall.
    Another domino tumbles falls.
In the merge of days and nights.
Or the urge of dizzying heights.
    Awed we gape unfolding paths,
    barren scapes, yon greener swaths.
    In Hedonic shadows collecting debts.
    Karma silent prances, weaving nets.
Along rut and creek of passing days,
    jilted songs and jarring forays.
Oblivious we sail on endless fret.
Lonely to hush of the last sunset.
