Jeweller drugged, robbed

A jeweller was intoxicated by swindlers, who looted gold worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in the Factory Area Police limits on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Muhammad Abid, a resident of the Qureshi Colony in Mazang. Abid was a gold trader and used to sell gold ornaments in Swat. He was found unconscious in the Main Chowngi Bazaar on Tuesday, where the locals found him and informed Rescue 1122. He died after a few hours of being taken to a nearby hospital.
The police said that the deceased had fallen prey to swindlers, who fled after taking ornaments bag from his possession and threw his unconscious body in the area. However, the family of the deceased claimed that Abid had been murdered.
The police shifted the body to the city morgue and said that the investigations would proceed after the autopsy report.
Cylinder blast injures hospital employee: A private hospital employee sustained burn injuries on Tuesday when a gas cylinder blasted in the hospital in Riwaz Garden on Sanda Road.
Supervisor Sabir was checking the leaking gas cylinders in the hospital when a cylinder exploded and fire broke out. The police and rescue personnel reached the spot, controlled the fire and provided the injured medical care.
SHO remains missing: Wahdat Colony Police Station Station House Officer (SHO) Yasir Abbas remained missing after passing of three days while the Gulshan-e-Ravi Police Station did not register any case on the complaint of the SHO’s father. SHO Yasir Abbas had gone missing on Sunday noon. The police sources said that an inquiry was being carried out by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police against the missing SHO for embezzling money recovered from a dacoit gang. The police officials however denied nabbing Yasir Abbas.
Terror suspect arrested: The intelligence agencies arrested a terror suspect from Ferozwala on Tuesday. The sources said that the accused was arrested by a team of police and intelligence personnel. He was shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogations.
Student shot dead An intermediate student was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists on Tuesday in the Factory Area Police Station precincts. The deceased was identified as 20-year-old Nadeem, a resident of Ghazi Road. Nadeem had returned from his tuition academy when two motorcyclists shot him dead and fled the scene. Nadeem’s father said that some fellow students of his son had been threatening him and he suspected that the same boys had murdered him. The police have started investigation in the matter after registering a case on the complaint of Nadeem’s father.
