Hotels, bakeries fined for poor hygiene

The Islamabad Capital Territory administration on Tuesday fined four hotels and two bakeries for poor sanitation and unhygienic conditions in their kitchens.
According to a press release, Food Assistant Director Muhammad Afzal conducted a surprise inspection of the hotels and bakeries in Sector I-8 and the Blue Area. He also sent cooking oil samples from hotels to a laboratory for testing.
Gourmet Bakers, Madina Bakers, Rahat Bakers, Al-Khair hotel and Shahi restaurant were among the food outlets inspected.
Afzal also conducted a price check in the Sector I-8 markets and imposed fines amounting to Rs 30,000 on the owners of the hotels and bakeries for over-charging and not displaying the rate list of food items.
