The federal cabinet on Wednesday reposed confidence in President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minster Yousaf Raza Gilani in the wake of Supreme Court’s warning to the bigwigs in NRO implementation case, media reported.
The cabinet, met here with Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in chair, discussed the prevailing political situation in the country, especially the circumstances emerging in the face of Supreme Court judgment in the NRO implementation case.
It decided to stand firm against the SC warning to disqualify the president and prime minister from office for disobeying its orders to re-open high profile corruption cases.
It is pertinent to mention that the court gave the government a one-week deadline to move forward stalled corruption proceedings against President Zardari and others but made no ruling, only outlining options to be reviewed by a larger panel of judges.
In Wednesday’s session, the cabinet reposed its confidence in PM Gilani and President Zardari as the premier briefed ministers over the court decision and government’s measures to implement the verdict in the case of so-called National Reconciliation Ordinance promulgated by former president Pervez Musharraf.
Sources said the cabinet also mulled over key political issues, including holding of Senate and general elections before the time.
The energy crises was also discussed in the meet.
The cabinet offered Fateha for Pakistan Muslim League-F (PML-F) chief and spiritual leader of Hur Jamat Pir Pagara and PPP MNA Azeem Khan Doultana.
What a waste of time they all are.
Of course they will support their godfather. He has made them what they all are, a bunch of jackals feasting off the carcass of this unfurtunate state
