Pakistani surgeon sets Guinness World Record

A surgeon at the Capital Hospital, CDA, has earned fame and prestige for the nation by making it to the Guinness Book of World Records for removing a 25.5cm long gall bladder through a 1 cm incision.
The 70 year old patient, Rasheeda Bibi, underwent a laparoscopic operation at CDA Hospital by Surgeon Dr Naeem Taj. This is the longest ever gall bladder removed laparascopically in medical history. The Guiness Book of World record has awarded Dr Naeem Taj a certificate of “World’s Longest Gall bladder removed through laparascopy”. Earlier, an Indian Doctor removed a gallbladder of around 24 cm through open surgery.

  1. The subject surgeon, besides being honored to have set world record is also a good and a humble person, as I observed him as a patient.

  2. Congrats! Dr. Naeem. Excellent work done. Certainly our doctors are second to none.
    I know of another orthopaedic doctor in Pakistan who performed countless bone repairs on a patient who fell from a fast running train. The patient, when returned to UK the doctors there were astonished. They admitted that for such a case happening in England they would have gone for amputation of limbs.
