Pakistan realises its duties under CWC: Khar

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that Pakistan would fulfill its obligation under Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
She was talking to Dr Ahmet Uzumcu, Director General of Hague-based Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), who called on her at the Foreign Office on Tuesday.
The foreign minister assured the visiting dignitary that Pakistan would fully cooperate with OPCW and work for complete elimination of chemical weapons.
The foreign minister expressed gratitude for OPCW’s acceptance of Pakistan’s offer to annually host International Assistance and Protection Courses and to host a Sub-Regional Assistance and Protection Center in Islamabad for the Gulf and South Asian regions.
The OPCW DG briefed the FM on the ongoing and future activities of his organization, particularly the emerging challenges in the April 29, 2012 post – destruction deadline period.
During his visit Ahmet Uzumcu also held fruitful meetings with the high ups of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NESCOM chairman and DESTO DG and attended a display of Assistance and Protection equipment.
