NBP, WAPDA off to winning start in National Jr Hockey

NBP, Railways, PAH Academy and WAPDA registered opening day wins as the 31st U-21 National Junior Hockey Championship started here at the National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
Director General Sports Board Punjab Usman Anwar performed the opening of the championship. On the occasion, Organising Secretary Rana Mujahid Ali, Tournament Director Saghir Ahmed, Olympian Khawaja Muhammad Junaid manager hockey team, Olympian Anjum Saeed, Olympian Muhammad Usman and officials of DHA Lahore were also present.
NBP thrashed FATA by 23 goals and they scored a dozen goals by half time. NBP got their goals through M. Dilber (5 goals 5th, 7th , 22nd , 23rd & 27th minutes), Khurram Shahzad (3 goals 8th ,26th & 69th minutes), Kashif Javed (4 goals 11th & 28th, 25th minute and 61st minute PC), Ayub Ali (7 goals 16th, 30th, 30th, 42nd, 44th, 48th & 69th minutes FG), Arslan Qadir (46th minute), Zohaib Azeem Khan (2 goals 50th minute & 66th minute) & Ahmed Zubair 53rd minute. Railways beat Pakistan Boards 2-0 and one goal each was scored in either half. Railways’ Ateeq Arshad scored in the seventh minute and Akbar Ali in the 57th minute.
PHF Academy beat KPK by three goals. They led the match by one goal after 35 minutes game was called off. PHF Academy scorers were Mudassar Ali 24th minute (FG), Mawadit Ali 57th minute (FG) & M. Ali Khan 70th minute (FG).
Wapda beat Punjab Whites 6-1 (Full Time). The half time score was 4-0. Wapda managed its big win through M. Suleman 10th minute (FG), M. Irfan (Capt) 2 goals 22nd minute (PC) & 30th minute (FG), Aleem Bilal 2 GOALS 31st & 57th minutes (PC) & Asad 36th minute (FG) while the losing Punjab’s only goal was scored by Arslan in the 45th minute (PC).
