The Lahore Bar Association (LBA), Lahore High Court bar Association (LHCBA) and Punjab bar council (PBC), have condemned the murder of former PBC executive committee chairman Nassar Ullah Warriach and announced a strike and a boycott of courts for Tuesday. All the lawyer bodies, including the Judicial Activism Panel (JAP), have demanded a judicial inquiry into the murder of the advocate and the immediate arrest of the killers. JAP chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique demanded the resignation of the federal and interior ministers for their failure to maintain law and order and protecting the lives of the lawyers as well as the public. Warriach was gunned down on Monday by unknown men in Gulshan-e- Ravi, near his residence, in an incident that shocked the city’s lawyers. He was a veteran lawyer and a former member of the PBC. His son, Tahir Nassar Ullah Warriach, is also a lawyer and PBC’s sitting member.
