‘Excuse me, I want a cab too!’

A postgraduate girl moved the Lahore High Court to challenge the ‘discriminatory policy’ adopted by the distributors in the Yellow Cab Scheme, who had not given her a vehicle even when she fulfilled all requirements.
The petition, filed by Hina Ihtisham, said that she had applied and deposited the advance payment in October last for the cab, even though she had done her masters and the requirement was BA.
She said she was deliberately left out because her father was a member of Pakistan People’s Party, adding that she wanted to work as a professional cab driver and had obtained a licence and training from motorway police. She prayed that the respondents, including the Punjab government, be asked to give her the cab.
