The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has sought applications from the party members aspiring to contest by-elections on five National Assembly seats vacated due to resignations of the MNAs.
According to details, five national assembly seats, NA-148 Multan, NA-149 Multan, NA-140 Kasur, NA-9 Mardan and NA-195 Rahimyar Khan fell vacant after resignation of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali, Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti and Jehangir Tareen, respectively.
All these MNAs jointed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after resigning from their respective parties and the National Assembly.
Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali and Shah Mehmood Qureshi resigned as MNAs from the ruling PPP, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi resigned from the PML-N, Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti resigned from ANP while Jehangir Tareen resigned from PML-Functional.
The PPP has asked the aspirants for the party tickets for the by-elections to apply with bio-data and Rs30,000 bank draft in the name of PPP. The application should be addressed to the PPP Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari.
The application for the party ticket should reach the party’s Islamabad office by January 23, 2012.
