Memo commission directs AG to issue visa to Ijaz

The high level Judicial Commission set up by the Supreme Court (SC) to probe the Memogate scandal ordered the Attorney General to issue visa to Mansoor Ijaz.
The Commission also directed Attorney General of Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq to ramp up security provided to former ambassador of Pakistan to the US Hussain Haqqani.
It should be mentioned here the unsigned memorandum was allegedly written to the US government on part of the Islamabad. The furor in Pakistani politics began to churn out when American-Pakistani Businessman Mansoor Ijaz revealed in his Financial Times article that then US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen was addressed to move against Pak Army to deter it from any coup in the country.
It is also pertinent to note here that Secretary Foreign Affairs, Secretary Cabinet Division and Attorney General appeared before the Commission in its previous meeting.
Four persons including Nawaz Sharif, Army Chief Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani and the ISI Chief Pasha were issued notices to appear before the Commission today.
The Commission also issued notices to President Asif Ali Zardari, Hussain Haqqani and American-Pakistani Business Mansoor Ijaz, whose counsel Akram Sheikh also appeared before the Commission.
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, who is currently on a pre-scheduled foreign trip, submitted his statement to the Commission through Judge Advocate General Brigadier Nobahar.
The Judicial Commission has been apprised via a written statement that Army Chief on a pre-planned visit to China.
