The daily wagers of SNGPL protested in front of the Lahore Press Club on Sunday and demanded that they be regularised. On the other hand, gas supplies to domestic users remained very low causing problems for many. The protestors, majority of who have been working in the SNGPL for the last five to seven years gathered at Shimla Hill and demanded of the higher authorities to regularise them. They asked the president, the PM and the Petroleum minister to take notice of the injustice of the SNGPL authorities, adding that they would continue to protest till their demands are not met.
LOW GAS PRESSURE: Meanwhile, gas pressure in various parts of the city dropped sharply on Sunday and people faced difficulties in preparing meals. The consumers said gas pressure had dropped significantly in the last three days, adding that geysers and heaters were now a dream to them. “We do not even have enough gas to prepare meals, forget the use of geysers and heaters,” said a housewife Salma Saleem.
Some of the areas also protested against low pressure and demanded of the SNGPL for giving them gas during morning and evening so that they could prepare meals. “I have been purchasing food from restaurants for the last three days due to gas low pressure and it is proving to be very expensive,” said Ishfaq Ali a clerk of a private school adding that the gas pressure caused many problems in his area. “People are suffering while the SNGPL is making fake promises of facilitating domestic users,” he lamented.
