Two airhostesses of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) returned to their hotel in Bangkok on January 1 after skipping with friends to a Thai tourist resort a couple of days earlier.
Sources in the national airline told Pakistan Today that the female flight attendants, with initials NP and TH, reportedly went missing from their hotel room on December 29. Sources said the two airhostesses arrived in Bangkok on PIA flight PK-892, operated on the Hong Kong-Bangkok-Islamabad-Lahore route. They reached the hotel along with other cabin crew members, but secretly left the hotel later without informing anyone. Sources said the two flight attendants were supposed to catch the returning PIA flight PK-893 on the same route. The cabin crew, clueless about the missing stewardesses, reported to the Bangkok police after not getting any information from the hotel staff.
However, some 48 hours later and in the early hours of January 1, the two airhostesses returned to their hotel room. When enquired, they said they had gone to the tourist resort of Pattaya with friends.
Sources said the PIA management appointed its director flight operations (DFO) as enquiry officer to investigate the matter, while some intelligence agencies also took notice of the incident. When contacted, the PIA spokesman said that it was difficult to substantiate the incident offhand. However, the management would thoroughly investigate the incident and would take necessary action under the law, he added.
