Photo exhibition to highlight Pak-German cooperation

A photo exhibition would be organised from January 9 at the Goethe-Institut Karachi to highlight Pak-German development cooperation over the past five decades.
According to a press release, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of
Germany in Karachi and the Goethe-Institute in Pakistan are presenting the collaborative photo exhibition titled “50 years of Pakistan-German development cooperation”.
Consul General of Germany in Karachi, Dr Tilo Klinner would inaugurate the exhibition that would run until January 31.
Development cooperation between Pakistan and Germany goes back to 1961 with the funding volume to date totalling some 2.3 billion euros. Pakistan was thus one of Germany’s first partner countries.
Financing for the Manghopir cement factory in Karachi was the first of many Pakistan-German cooperation projects and programmes that have contributed to Pakistan’s development.
Funding was initially provided for the energy, industrial, transport and telecommunications sectors. Today, the priority areas of Pakistan-German development cooperation are good governance, energy, health and basic and vocational education. Over the past five decades, Pakistan and Germany have implemented numerous development projects.
