PCNS finalises recommendations on new terms of engagements with US

The Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) on Thursday finalised its recommendations for new terms of engagements with US and NATO forces in the War against Terror but the final recommendations will be handed over to the prime minister on Tuesday. Federal Finance Minister Senator Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, the finance secretary and EAD secretary briefed the committee on the financial impact of cut of US aid and the actual funding by the US and EU to Pakistan. The committee discussed the recommendations by the finance ministry and finalised its recommendations. Sources said that the committee fianlised a draft of its recommendations about the new terms of engagement, which would be sent to the PM to be submitted in the joint session of parliament. Briefing journalists at the Parliament House, PCNS Chairman Senator Raza Rabbani said that the committee finalised its recommendations, adding that national security was the committee’s major concern and all recommendations were based on safeguarding the country’s interests.
