At a time when inflation has reached an alarming level with rupee losing ground against dollar and soaring prices, the announcement made by gallery6 about to offer artworks with discount at a “moving out sale” is a good news for the art lovers.
Established in March 2008, the gallery6 as an expression of a medical doctor for his love and passion towards the fine arts. Dr Arjumand Faisal vacated an office floor and turned the ground level into an art gallery.
In a few months time, the gallery started getting recognition, as the exhibitions proved outstanding ventures. It not only introduced several artists to the citizens in Islamabad but also paid meticulous attention to the display of artworks in each show. From 2008-11, the gallery held 33 exhibitions at its premises, two at PC Bhurban, one in USA and another in Australia.
The increasing success has built a demand for a larger space; hence, the decision was taken to move the gallery to a bigger facility.
Dr Arjumand, the curator of the gallery, said, “We believe that the year 2012 will be the year of change for Pakistan – the year when foundation towards a progressive Pakistan will be laid. Hence, we decided to take steps in that direction and began the year with the announcement of our move. We also decided to celebrate our growing success by offering substantial discounts on our current stock to art patrons not only in the twin cities, but also all over Pakistan.”
This “moving out sale” begins today (Saturday) from 11 am. It offers more than 300 artworks including paintings, prints and sculptures by 50 artists from Pakistan and elsewhere. These include landscapes, figurative work, calligraphies, miniature paintings, abstracts, pen and ink compositions, and wooden made of sculptures, fiber glass, stone and metal wire.
Most of the works are offered with 20 percent to 30 percent discounts, while some are being offered even up to 50 per cent discounts. This announcement has started attracting the art fans even before the start of sale to search and book their choices.
Commenting on this opportunity, a female visitor said, “I am thrilled at this offer, as there is so much variety and substantial reductions in prices; I am having difficulty in choosing.”
The sale will continue till 15 January at House 624, Street 44, G-9/1 daily from 11 am to 7 pm, including Sundays.
